Nabakrushna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies (NCDS) invites applications for Professors and Associate Professors in different disciplines/specializations. NCDS will also consider applicants willing to come on deputation.

Name of Post –

1 – Professor.

Disciplines –

Economics or allied/relevant, Anthropology/ Sociology or allied/relevant

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications –

An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed UGC-CARE.

A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate.

OR

An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from any academic institutions/industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years’ experience.

Pay Scale –

Rs.37,400-Rs.67,000/- + AGP Rs.10,000/-

Age Limit –

60 Years.

2  – Associate Professor.

Disciplines –

Development Studies or allied/relevant. Economics or allied/relevant, Population Studies/ Demography or allied/relevant.

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications –

A good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.

A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).

A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/ industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed UGC-CARE list journals and a total research score of Seventy five (75) as per the criteria given in Table A of Application Form.

Pay Scale –

Rs.37,400-Rs.67,000/- + AGP Rs.9,000/-

Age Limit –

60 Years.

Conditions –

1 – Applicants desirous of applying to multiple positions should submit separate applications for each position.

2 – NCDS may request soft copies of some of the documents at a later date.

3 – Applications received incomplete in any respect are liable to be summarily rejected and no correspondence on that score shall be entertained.

4 – Merely fulfilling the minimum qualification does not entitle a candidate to be necessarily considered or shortlisted for the subsequent stages of the selection process, or, if considered or shortlisted for the subsequent stages it does not entitle a candidate to be necessarily selected to the position.

5 – No Travelling Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid to attend the different stages of the selection procedure or to join at NCDS after selection.

6 – Applicants who are not Indian citizens will have to satisfy additional requirements by Government of India/Government of Odisha and subject to other rules and regulations, as mandated by law, if selected.

7 – Notwithstanding, anything mentioned above, NCDS reserves the right to reject any or all the applications received without assigning any reason thereof.

Documents to be submitted –

1 – Filled in application form with relevant self-attested documentary evidence.

2 – A three-hundred word 'statement of purpose' conveying why the applicant is the best suitable for the position applied for and also briefly explaining the plans/activities that the applicant would like to take up, if selected (format included, as part of the application form).

3 – For Professors and Associate Professors for research score see Table A, which is also attached to the application form.

4 – A curriculum vitae providing details of research publications, research projects, fellowships/awards, invited lectures/papers in seminars/conferences, and any other academic activities. This can be used by applicants for the position of Professors and Associate Professors to provide all the information used to compute their research score.

5 – Applicants who are in service can send their applications as advance copy.

6 – Applicants should submit discipline/specialization-specific selected refereed publications: three for Professor and two for Associate Professor.

The institute will not be responsible for any delay in receipt of applications.
